Online Counselling

Online counselling allows you to access psychological services and counselling from your home, office or while you are travelling.

Online counselling

At Aspire Health and Psychology, we have registered psychologists and counsellors who provide online counselling services. We provide online counselling using Skype. Skype is a web-based program that allows you to do live video conferencing. This means that you will be able to see and hear your counsellor and they will also be able to see and hear you. The appointment is conducted like a face to face counselling session.

You will need reliable internet, a computer, and a private uninterrupted space for the length of the session. Sessions usually last for 55 minutes.

WHO IS ONLINE COUNSELLING FOR?

We cover a broad range of issues using online counselling such as depression, anxiety, phobias, grief, loss , adjustment, pain management,  social isolation, anger and behaviour management. We have consultants specialised in gender identity and sexual orientation and sexual dysfunction.

Research indicates that online counselling assists people to feel less inhibited and more able to discuss deeply shameful or embarrassing concerns.

WHAT ISSUES ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR ONLINE COUNSELLING?

Online counselling is not appropriate when a person’s life is in danger due to thoughts of self-harm. This also includes other concerns such as hearing voices, hallucinations, severe eating disorders, bipolar, schizophrenia, and other forms of psychosis. This is better managed through face to face services with psychiatrists and specialist therapists.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO START ONLINE THERAPY?

You will need a computer that has a camera and audio capacity. You will need reliable internet connection. Next you will need to download Skype and set up a log in.
