What are your opening hours?

Aspire Health & Psychology are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm, and Saturday 9am to 6pm. Bookings are essential, please call reception on (03) 9391 9866 to make an appointment.

 

Where is Aspire Health & Psychology located?

The practice is located at 461 Melbourne Rd Newport, VIC 3015. We are a 5 minute walk from Newport train station. There is also parking in the area and at the back of the property if you are driving.

 

How do I get the Medicare rebate?

Your GP can arrange a Mental Health Care Plan.  You will need to book a 30 minute appointment with your doctor who will assess your eligibility and complete the necessary referral and paperwork.  You can request that the referral be made out to a psychologist of your choice.

 

How long do the sessions go for?

Counselling sessions last for 50 to 55 minutes.  The final 5 minutes of the session is generally spent arranging further sessions and finalising payment.

 

What are the costs for counselling with a registered psychologist?

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan you will be out of pocket $65.50 per session. You will have to pay the full fee up-front at the end of each session, then you can claim back the Medicare rebate either online or in-person at a Medicare centre. For more information about our automatic rebate system, ask our reception team or your therapist.

Individual Counselling with a General Psychologist is $150 per session

Individual Counselling with a Clinical Psychologist is $190 per session

 

What are the costs for relationship counselling?

Currently, there are no rebates available through Medicare. You will have to pay the full free up-front at the end  of each session.

Relationship Counselling is $170 per session (for a couple)

Do you Bulk Bill?

We have limited bulk bill places available for people who are unemployed or on a pension.  If you would like to discuss this option, please call reception on (03)9391 9866 to find out more.

 

Am I eligible for Private Health Insurance rebates?

Sessions with our psychologists are eligible for rebates with the majority of health insurance companies.  You will need to call your insurer and confirm what your specific policy covers.

 

How do I choose a therapist?

The quality of your connection and relationship with your therapist is essential for your overall treatment.  It is important you feel a strong rapport and that your therapist is able to hear and understand your concerns.

We invite you to call and discuss your specific interest and needs with our staff who will best place you with a psychologist or therapist at the practice.

Some key questions you may want to consider:

  • The number of years of experience the therapist has
  • Their specialty areas
  • The type of therapy they engage with

And after the first session:

  • Did I feel a sense of connection with the therapist?
  • Did I like them?
  • Did I feel heard and understood?
  • Did I feel a sense of safety?
  • Are we able to set some workable treatment goals together?
